چکیده
In the present work a detailed numerical study of parameters influencing droplet formation in flow-focusing microfluidic device are made. First, an extensive verification simulations with data from literature is carried out. Influence like viscosity and inflow velocity compared results showing good agreement. Some differences attributed to different techniques used: pure volume-of-fluid method used, while reference this combined level-set method. As second step model, comparison experimental was out which shows very After completed, eight new covering wide range velocities continuous phase u c . these discrete d remains unchanged. The variation reveals that increasing value , respectively capillary number Ca length reaches point saturation, i.e. where does not decrease any more. For setup saturation occurs for > 0,03. On other hand, when goes towards low values ( < 0,01 setup), size increases significantly. Further, it found numbers above around 0,015 water/oil 0,025 water + 40% glycerol / oil systems, transmission dripping jetting regimes occurs. It shown increases, higher total pressure jumps occur, also leading smaller droplets.

متن کاملLow-Reynolds-number droplet motion in a square microfluidic channel
In this study, we investigate computationally the low-Reynolds-number droplet motion in a square micro-channel, a problem frequently encountered in microfluidic devices, enhanced oil recovery and coating processes. The droplet deformation and motion are determined via a three-dimensional spectral boundary element method for wall-bounded flows. The effects of the flow rate, viscosity ratio and d...

Analysis of droplet formation in microfluidic systems is important to understand the operation of these devices, and to permit optimal design and process control. Droplet formation in microfluidic Tjunction devices was studied using experimental and numerical methods. The simulations agree well with experimental data from PDMS devices; they show that droplet pinch-off is controlled not by visco...
